The Weekend

Greetings to all!

This past weekend was a really good one. I can't tell you how happy I was to see Friday get here. Not sure why. Perhaps just ready for the weekend.

Of course, it's not like I just sat around and did nothing. Saturday was a full day indeed. It started off with our local church's monthly service at the nursing home. Then our local VLB's met for lunch, then off to work on our commercial project for an upcoming TN state youth function. Then, we had a chili cook-off in the evening as a fundraiser for Reaching the Nations through Publication. Six pots of chili were entered, and we raised about $160. I thought that was pretty good, considering about 12 people attended. And in case you're wondering which pot of chili won? You'll never believe mine did! (I'm still in shock, quite honestly...) I guess miracles really DO happen, huh? :o)

Our Sunday services were good, also. Our pastor's message was entitled "The Goal of Perfection." He talked about how the perfect man does not say he is perfect, or even know it. If so, he wouldn't be perfect. In his message, he asked the rhetorical question, "What is in my life that could be keeping me from wholly following the Lord to perfection?" Perfection means to be just like Jesus, which means I must deny myself and be blameless. God requires this standard of each one of us.

Sunday evening, Brother Butler preached a really good message about sanctification. The title was simply, "Are You Sanctified?" He mentioned that the devil does not like holy living or preaching about holiness. We need to GET UP and walk in the newness of life (Romans 6:4). He ended the message with the song, "Be Careful Little Eyes/Ears/Lips/Hands/Feet".

There's just no way I can do either of these messages any justice by this blog. Of course, you know me and my jumbled summaries. :o)

Other than that, not much else is occurring around these parts. Hope you all enjoy your day, I'll check in with you again soon.

It's nice to get a little news from "back home." We miss everybody and are already looking forward to getting back home. Our hearts are hurting for Brother Kryss and we're keeping all of you in our prayers.
